From “In Spite Of the Odds Of Being”
Each one of the pieces in this body of work will be an experiment. Given the randomization (the rolling of dice and spinning of wheels) used in the process and the pre-determination of colors and procedures prior to any drawing, the level to which each image meets typical expectations for a completed product will vary. This particular portrait, drawn with a limited palette and geometric pattern inspired by the individual’s personality, proved to be both beautiful and challenging in that roughly 1/3 of the picture plane is left blank.
